The long awaited PSW 2013 in Las Vegas is now in past -- my first PSW. It was more than I could have hoped for as it provided an opportunity to meet and listen to several of the greatest photographers in the world today. I also participated in a "pre-con" workshop about "Shooting a Wedding" with David Ziser -- a famous wedding photographer for many years.
I went on a self-assigned "photo walk" after the workshop, Friday evening. I didn't want to mess with a lot of lenses, so I attached my 14mm lens and proceeded down the strip. A storm had just rolled through and the sky was amazing. I am shooting in RAW format. To capture this incredible sky and the cool New York New York 'skyline', I merged 3 images in PS HDR. I finished it off by applying some of the new features of LR 5 -- I think it worked!
I wanted to end this inaugural blog post with the portfolio that I presented and had reviewed at PSW. A well known and terrific portrait photographer, Helene Glassman (www.imagerybyhelene.com) provided the review. She was honest and very constructive with her comments. In summary, she liked my work. Helene pointed out some lighting issues and ways for me to improve my cropping. Bottom line: great experience ... great lessons!
